About MSG Labeling

If you, like me, are a highly sensitive person, you may have stopped somewhere on the road to get yourself a cup of tea, chosen a tea bag after carefully scanning the label, overlooking one thing. That still small voice: “If the manufacturer truly had nothing to hide, the words ‘natural flavoring’ would not be on here”. Went for it anyway, being a bit weary and a long way from home, needing a pick me up.

This happened to me years ago at a Starbucks. I had choosen a chai tea bag from Oprah’s brand. It didn’t take long at all for my lips to tingle, the tingling to spread further to my tongue and throat. Then a headache welled up from my neck. I knew instantly this signature reaction was from MSG.

This was the last time I set foot in a Starbucks after they had advertised to be “healthier”, “fair trade” and “free from artificial ingredients”. Anyway, being “highly sensitive” is my super power, and so I am happy to share with you what I learned about MSG, so you can avoid unwanted side effects.

Monosodium Glutamate aka Manufactured free Glutamates (MfG). Label scanners eat your heart out.
